MARCOS AYALA

Dancer – Choreographer – Director

He was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina and from an early age, he began to study folkloric dances and to perform in different folkloric festivals in the country. At the age of 13 he was invited by Héctor Arico to join the company "Danza Argentina" with which he made his first tour of Europe for two months.

In 2004 he graduated as National Master of Argentine Dances from the National School of Dance and in 2005, the famous Musical Director Gustavo Santaolalla invited him as a dancer to join the group "Bajo Fondo Tango Club", with whom he toured all over the country.

In 2006 he travels on his own to Japan and wins the "First Prize" in the "World Tango Championship" that took place in that country. His career as a professional tango dancer has been very dizzying being invited to be part of the dance companies; "La Esquina Carlos Gardel", "Tango Pasión", "Mora Godoy Tango Company" with which he made countless national and international tours and shows such as "Tango Libertad" with Miguel Soto, "Tango Porteño" with Juan Carlos Copes, "Chantecler Tango" with Mora Godoy at the Châtelet Theatre in Paris (2013); which sold out for a whole month and where the specialized press recognised him as "The real revelation of Tango" for his leading role. His creative and entrepreneurial spirit motivated him to form his own company to express his choreographic concerns. Thus was born in 2014 "Tango Lovers", a company that he directed and with which he began to tour internationally, with the United States as a recurring country. In 2015 the New York Association of Entertainment Writers awarded him the "LATIN ACE AWARDS” for his professional career.

In 2016, feeling the need to identify his company with his own name, he changed the name to "Marcos Ayala the Tango Company". In the same year he was invited by the Artistic Director of the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires to take part in the “Bicentenary Celebrations” of Argentina, which took place outdoors with his company and was broadcast live on television throughout the country. 

In the middle of 2016 he premiered his first integral show, “Tango Buenos Aires", performing in the interior of the country and then touring extensively in Russia, Israel and China.  At the end of 2017, venturing into the language of the musical, a new creation took shape and premiered "Tango in the Shadows'' with which he toured again in Russia, Sweden, Finland, Lithuania, Moldova, Israel, Doha and Spain and ended up presenting it in Buenos Aires, where the critics and the general public gave it a standing ovation.

In 2019, he faces a new choreographic challenge in the same line of musical shows: "Astor Tango, the final judgment" which premiered in Israel in August and from there 3 months of performances between Europe, Turkey and Russia. 

In 2022, during the end of the Pandemic, he is hired to stage two different and simultaneous shows in two Tango houses in Buenos Aires, “Casablanca Tango” and “Mansión Tango”.

In April 2023, he is invited to participate in a reality show “Tangomania” on Lithuanian television with the premise of dancing Tango. A program with a very high rating where he finished with the "First Prize". That same year he starts a tour with his company with a new play called "Tango, where the story begins" touring in a first part the Baltic countries, Armenia and Georgia and from September another tour with the same play is projected starting in Sweden, Finland, Israel, Russia and ending in mid-January 2024 in China.

Marcos Ayala is undoubtedly one of the most representative dancers and choreographers in Argentina, a creative and restless spirit in constant artistic search.
